Release date for Joe Danger Vita!

August 29, 2014 No comments yet

We have some really cool news!

Our favourite stunt rider, Joe Danger will be coming to PSVita next week! You’ll be able to download Joe Danger straight to your PSVita on Tuesday 2nd September if you’re in North America and Wednesday 3rd September in the EU.

What could possibly be better than that? Playstation Plus members will be able to get Joe Danger for FREE with September’s line-up of Playstation Plus games – that’s what!

We’ve ported Hello Games’ fantastic side-scrolling stunt game to the PSVita with stunning 60fps and eye-poppingly colourful graphics. Joe Danger has never looked better!

Here’s what our friends at Hello Games have said about our handiwork:
“We’re really proud of Joe’s latest appearance. Our friends at Four Door Lemon have done an amazing job of squeezing the full PS3 game, plus the new-to-PlayStation Laboratory levels, into a handheld. That’s 84 levels in total. It runs at a perfect 60-frames-a-second throughout, and uses pretty much every single colour on the Vita’s screen 🙂 We’ve also added automatically downloaded ghost replays, touch controls to the level editor, and online leaderboards.”

Keep an eye out for news of Joe Danger 2: The Movie for PSVita soon – follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook (if you haven’t already) to get the latest news and updates on all our games and projects.

You can also like and follow Hello Games on their Facebook and Twitter pages for all the latest Joe Danger news as well as development news on their latest game No Man’s Sky (definitely worth checking out).

Introducing 101 Ways To Die!

August 11, 2014 2 comments

We are absolutely delighted to be announcing 101 Ways To Die – an original Four Door Lemon IP that we’re very excited about.

In the coming weeks we’ll be releasing loads of information about the game here on our website and also via our social media channels. You can look forward to screenshots, videos, concept art and much, much more – so make sure you’re following our Four Door Lemon and 101 Ways To Die Facebook and Twitter pages at the links below!

Here’s our official press release announcement:

Aug 11th 2014 – Bradford, UK – Four Door Lemon Ltd reveals their gory platform puzzler game ‘101 Ways To Die’ on the UKIE stand at Gamescom, Cologne.

It’s not about killing… it’s about killing with style!

101 Ways To Die is a puzzle platformer with a twist – it’s full of dark humour and cartoon gore.
As the assistant of an eccentric (and slightly evil) scientist, Professor Splatunfuder, it’s
your job to help him in restoring a damaged Recipe book. These aren’t any old cooking Recipes,
but Recipes for dispatching your enemies in the most stylish ways possible. The name of the
book is 101 Ways To Die!

Shattered Screams

Key Features

  • Manipulate the environment to kill the characters
  • Create mutilation, mayhem and destruction by laying brutal combinations of tools
  • A series of bone crunching animations showing your creatures being maimed, sliced, burned, exploded, ripped and impaled
  • 101 delightfully gory Death Recipes to unlock
  • Over 30 blood soaked levels

Gain points for killing lab created creatures – the Fodder – by using the arsenal of lethal tools. Gain more points for killing them with hilarious recipes; combining multiple deadly tools to achieve the most outlandishly cruel deaths possible for the hapless Fodder. Do you have what it takes to restore the book with all 101 Recipes?

Our gameplay revolves around using tools and physics to trap and punish the Fodder before ripping them apart. It combines strategy, reactions and a twisted mind-set to make the most deadly combinations. The reward? Finishing a level and completing challenges is one side, sitting back and watching as the characters are grotesquely eviscerated is another. The post round replay system means you never miss your bloodiest efforts.

101 Ways To Die is scheduled to be released on Steam in 2015 (TBC) with other versions to follow.

Four Door Lemon Ltd is an independent developer based in Yorkshire, England.

Starting out as a work-for-hire and middleware developer in 2005 we have continued to expand our hugely experienced team to develop games of all genres and scales for every released (and some not released!) gaming platform.

Recent projects include the PlayStation Vita’s AR titles Table Football, Table Ice Hockey and Table Mini Golf. We have since collaborated with other games developers on projects such as New Star Games’ New Star Soccer, Hello Games’ Joe Danger for PSVita / Android, and Mediatonic’s Foul Play for PS4 / PSVita.

In late 2012 we began work on our original IP ‘101 Ways To Die’ as part of our gradual shift from work-for-hire to own IP development.

If you are interested in finding out more information about the game or doing a preview of 101 Ways To Die we are happy to provide a pre-release Steam key.

Exciting News! (…soon)

August 8, 2014 No comments yet

Are you excited?

Well we are.

Here’s why …

If you’ve been following us for a while then you know we’ve been dead busy recently working on a number of projects:- porting Hello Games’ Joe Danger to PSVita, porting Mediatonic‘s Foul Play to PS4 and PSVita and working with JAW to port Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD to PS3 and PSVita.

We’ve also been working ourselves to death on our own IP, and so far we’ve been very tight-lipped about it. But not for much longer! We have some killer news that we’ve been dying to share with you for ages, and we’ll finally be letting the cat out of the bag, spilling the beans and breaking the silence!

Well … not just yet (sorry). We’re going to reveal all next week, just in time for gamescom on Wednesday 13th August, where we’ll be showing our game to partners on the UKIE stand. 13 may be unlucky for some, but we’re not superstitious, so we’re anticipating that everything should be executed smoothly (probably) – even if we step on every crack between here and Cologne and cross paths with 100 black cats.

Hopefully you’re now wildly excited – we’re certain our explosive news will blow your minds. For now the only information we’re giving away is in the form of brutally bad puns – we look forward to slaying your curiosity at gamescom.

Games Britannia Recap

June 30, 2014 No comments yet

We had a fantastic time at Games Britannia over the weekend and we were blown away by all the nice things people said about the Vita games we brought with us.

Joe Danger: The Movie was particularly popular with our younger visitors – for one 3 year old there was nothing more fun than watching Joe do the loop-the-loop and then be thrown from his bike when he hit a low beam (making Joe duck to ride safely under the beam just wasn’t as amusing).

Our more experienced gamers were thrilled with Foul Play, beating up every foe that crossed the Baron’s path kept them fully entertained.

And people of all ages and gaming levels (from beginner to pro) enjoyed using the PSVita’s rear camera and augmented reality features to play Table Mini Golf and Table Ice Hockey.

We really enjoyed meeting everyone – gamers and devs alike – particularly our neighbours Utopian world of Sandwiches, who invited us to play some 9-player Chompy Chomp Chomp .

We even made a new friend!

Last but not least, well done to our mailing list and social media competition winners!
We managed to drag our level designers away from their work for a little while to pick the winners names out of these boxes and the lucky winners are …

… Jon Buchan and James Butterfield!
Jon will receive a £50 Amazon voucher and James gets a £10 Amazon Voucher – we’ll be emailing you guys in the next few weeks with your prizes.
